Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The purpose of this course is to analyse the phases of Turkish Foreign Policy starting from the Independence War until 1980 and to outline its main characteristics. In order to do so Turkish Foreign Policy during the Interwar Period; Turkey’s foreign policy during the Cold War period; Turkey’s relations with the neighbouring countries; Turkey’s relations with the Western states and institutions; Turkey’s stance toward the European security and foreign policy; Turkey’s foreign policy towards developments in the Middle East; and Turkey’s relations with the Soviet Union will be elaborated especially by focusing on main developments and cases that shaped bilateral relations.
