Course Objectives: |
This course aims to understand politics via (probably) the most popular field of culture: films. It introduces students to the basic issues, concepts and ideologies of politics and how those are represented, and also criticized, in selected movies. The subjects that will be covered in this course include cold war and deterrence, (anti)militarism, (post) colonialism, gender politics, capitalism, migration, ethnic conflict, social movements/resistance, fascism/dictatorship, totalitarianism and racism. |
