Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to provide the student with a basic knowledge about races and ethnic origins.
Course Content: In this course, in the context of globalization, the concepts of nation-state and citizenship and inequality, gender, colonialism / nationalism dimensions of the conceptions of race and ethnicity are studied.The concepts of being other states We and They , social construction of national and ethnic identities in a certain historical and political context, and the emergence and development of different nationalisms in modern societies are the main topics of the course.Diaspora, unwarranted deterritorialisation concept of displacement are resolved through reading case studies from around the world and Turkey.

3) Discuss critically cause and effect relationships used in sociological perspectives; thereby formulate visions, aims and targets by identifying gaps in the existing knowledge in their areas of interest.
