Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: In this course, many issues and discussions, with the concepts of social change and culture at the center, are examined with the parallel course of these concepts. The social, cultural, economic and political reflections of social change in the context of society and individuals are discussed and the differences between past and present dynamics are examined.
The aim of the course is teaching Turkey’s social structure,changes, social and individual breakpoints with different phases to the students. It is aimed that students understand social change within the context of language, culture, identity, communication, media and similar current contexts and make sense of today's society.
Course Content: Society, socialization, dynamics of social change, social change and politics, media and society, the concept of culture, culture and identity, gender, globalization, social transformation in Turkey, the only party period – multi-party period.

1) To master the theory of social change and culture, particularly the culture and To explain social change and transformation in the world and in Turkey axes of socialization, identity globalization.

1) To be able to use the theoretical and factual knowledge acquired about the economic, political and legal aspects of social transformations in personal production, to analyze existing theories and theories and to approach them critically.

Communication and Social Competence
1) To be able to use the knowledge gained in the field to solve social problems encountered. To be able to propose and implement constructive projects for the social environment in which he/she lives, by combining his/her knowledge and experience in the field of culture with the awareness of social responsibility.

1) Developing the habit of thinking critically in the fields of culture, society, technology and developing a tendency to understand the importance of learning in this sense and to apply this approach. To be able to use their knowledge in these areas in other areas of communication discipline.
Field Specific Competence
1) Acting in accordance with social, scientific, cultural and ethical values in the stages of data collection, interpretation, application and announcement of results in research and studies carried out in the field of social change and culture.
Competence to Work Independently and Take Responsibility
1) Realize the importance of knowledge gained in the field of social transformations and culture in making sense of daily life. To be able to take responsibility, develop assumptions, and interpret the findings in a research conducted in fields such as culture, identity, globalization and gender.
