Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To research the scientific publications selected from the currently followed international journals in detail, and then present the subject, to develop students' research, reading, comprehension, and writing skills on a particular subject.
Course Content: Current literature on periodontal diseases and treatments

1) Tells and explains acute gingival diseases.
2) Has knowledge of the current literature on acute gingival diseases and their treatments.
3) Lists and explains the conditions that make up the table of desquamative gingivitis.
4) Tells and explains the causes of gingival enlargement
5) Tells the changes in tissues due to occlusal trauma, explains the causes of trauma.
6) Summarizes and classifies the causes of mobility.
7) Understands the mechanism of action of anti-inflammatory drugs, counts the drugs used, and follows current studies.
8) Comprehends host modulation, summarizes the mechanism of action of drugs used for this purpose.
9) Summarizes probiotics, follows current studies.

1) Comprehends achieving general information in periodontology, evidence-based dentistry approach, and using the information obtained in clinically and academically.
2) Summarizes the classification and etiology of diseases by having basic knowledge of periodontal and periimplant diseases, comprehends diagnosis and treatment planning.
3) Defines general, non-surgical and surgical periodontal treatments of periodontal and periimplant diseases and performs these treatments.
4) Have the ability to consult with other dentistry specialties and/or medical faculty when necessary.
5) Comprehends planning, coordinating and making presentations and/or publications by paying attention to the ethical rules related to the science of periodontology.
6) Have the ability to make presentations in scientific meetings, courses and congresses.
7) Raises the awareness of patients and society in order to prevent periodontal diseases.
