Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The purpose of this course is to teach the students the basic principles of Industrial and Organizational Psychology and how the psychological and psychometrical theories are applied at work and organizational settings. It is also aimed to enable students for gaining the necessary competencies for understanding the workplace problems from psychological point of view in a way that at least they can make basic suggestions on the solutions of behavior related problems. Moreover they are informed in detail with the necessary psychometric properties of the Psychological Assessment tools that are used in work settings and the ethical issues related with these tools.
Course Content: This course is to teach students the basic principles of Industrial and Organizational Psychology and how psychological and psychometric theories are applied in business and organizational settings. In addition, it is also aimed that students gain the necessary competencies to understand workplace problems from a psychological perspective, at least in a way that they can make basic suggestions for the solution of behavioral problems. It also includes the necessary psychometric properties of Psychological Assessment tools used in the business environment and ethical issues related to these tools.

1) Adequate knowledge in mathematics, science and engineering subjects pertaining to the relevant discipline; ability to use theoretical and applied information in these areas to model and solve engineering problems.
2) Ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems; ability to select and apply proper analysis and modelling methods for this purpose.
3) Ability to design a complex system, process, device or product under realistic constraints and conditions, in such a way so as to meet the desired result; ability to apply modern design methods for this purpose.
