Recognition of Prior Learning (Program Specific)

Students who have completed at least two semesters of a graduate program in a higher education institution other than the university and have succeeded in all courses can be admitted to the graduate programs opened at the University within the framework of the following principles. The candidate who applies for a transfer should be successful in the evaluation to be made by the jury appointed by the Board of Directors by taking the opinion of the relevant Department / Heads of Department. Applications for horizontal transfers are made at the beginning of the fourth semester at the latest. It is determined by the relevant Board of Directors whether the candidate whose horizontal transfer is accepted will be responsible for the credit and non-credit course requirement required for completion of the program, the additional courses / courses that can be suggested by the horizontal transition jury, as well as the provisions of this Regulation. Those who are graduates or students of a higher education institution and want to increase their knowledge on a specific subject can be accepted as a special student for up to two of the postgraduate courses open with the recommendation of the relevant Heads of Department / Department and approval of the Board of Directors. Special students are required to pay the fee determined by the University Administrative Board per semester for each semester. Special students also have to fulfill their obligations regarding courses and exams. Special students cannot enjoy their student rights. However, if they succeed in entering a graduate program of Marmara University in the following year, the courses they have achieved may be valid for the program they follow with the recommendation of the Heads of the Department / Main Branch and the approval of the board of directors, provided that they do not exceed one third of the total credit they have to take. It is not exempted from any course due to the knowledge and skills acquired by the student through in-service trainings, courses and informal means.
