General Information

The main reasons for the need for a Mechatronics Engineering Doctorate Program are presented under three subheadings below:

I) In the face of technological development, the industry's need for specialist staff for R&D: The advanced technology products introduced into the country with new investment projects include increasingly complex measurement-control and evaluation cycles besides the mechanical structure. These systems are now almost entirely computer / microprocessor based, and are also equipped with information elements (hardware and software) that keep observation and inventory within themselves and exchange information with peripheral units in a hierarchical manner. Adjusting, programming and operating these systems according to production conditions requires a special formation based on the concepts of mechanical engineering, electrical-electronic engineering, computer engineering and even control engineering. For example, the use of robots in the production system reveals the need described above. With the Mechatronics Engineering Doctorate Program, expert engineers will be trained to meet this need, and qualified human resources will be provided for the efficient operation of advanced technology products in the country.
II) The Turkish Industry's need for new production system and new product development: A much more important reason than the operation of production systems imported from abroad is that Turkish companies that can compete in international markets can no longer transfer licenses and knowledge from abroad, and in this case, they have to use their own unique technologies. their need for development. Systems and products with Mechatronic features draw attention among the industrial R&D projects supported and awarded by TUBITAK and TTGV in the last five years.
III) Innovation, new concept development, innovation requirement: In addition to the application of scientific research and development results without delay, new design principles, new sensing and information processing technologies, new control and operating philosophies that can always keep the performance of the system at the highest level constitute the most important competitive element of our age. . Since the design, realization and operation of mechatronic systems are software-based rather than hardware-based, they allow all kinds of new concepts and applications to be extremely flexible. The fact that the Mechatronics Engineering Doctorate Program trains 'innovative' expert engineers will significantly increase the technological competitiveness of our country, and it will be ensured that the Turkish industry is increasingly directed towards knowledge-intensive and high-value-added export products.
