Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Evaluate the chemical reactions occurring in living organisms and in laboratory and the properties of organic reactions.
Course Content: This course contains;
1. Introduction to organic chemistry, C-C bonding
2. C-heteroatom bonding and properties
3. Alkanes and radicalic reactions
4. Alkenes
5. Elimination and addition reactions
6. Alkines and cycloalkanes
7. Aromatic structure and aromatic substitution reactions
8. Stereochemistry
9. Alkyl halogenures and nucleophylic substiyution reactions
10. Acid-base properties, alkohols and phenols
11. Carbonyl compounds, aldehydes and ketones
12. Nucleophylic addition to carbonyl groups
13. α-Addition to carbonyl groups
14. Carboxylic acids and their derivatives, amines and their reactions
15. Amino acids and proteins, carbohydrates, nucleic acids : DNA and RNA .
