Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course is a comprehensive Chinese course, which involves listening, speaking, reading and writing in Chinese. The text is the focus of the semester teaching, followed by the usage of new words. The main task of teaching is to cultivate the ability to express expressions through texts and words, and to improve language communication to a new level.
Course Content: The semester has 14 weeks, and the class time is about 12 weeks, 6 hours per week. This semester is expected to finish 10 lessons. The texts mostly are stories that reflect the contemporary Chinese social life.
In the class, under the guidance of teacher, students are required to understand the meaning of the words they have learned and to grasp their usage. The text requires students to understand the contents of the text in the classroom. Outside the class, students should listen more and read more. They are required to read the text fluently and can talk about it.

1) Master the meaning and usage of more than 1,400 Chinese new words
2) Considering the objectives of the first semester course, written expression types and applied studies on these types are also carried out in this course. The main purpose of the course is to improve students' knowledge about the types of written texts in both languages, and to increase their language awareness and knowledge by improving their ability to create written texts in these areas.

To be able to follow the information in the field and communicate with colleagues by using a foreign language at least at the European Language Portfolio B1 General Level. To be able to use information and communication technologies with at least the European Computer Driving License Advanced Level computer software required by the field.
5) Graduates use the contemporary tools and techniques required for the practice of translation, as well as information and communication technologies together with computer hardware and software knowledge required by the field.
6) Graduates possess sufficient knowledge of theoretical and methodological approaches in translation studies to begin graduate studies in the field.
6) Acting in accordance with social, scientific, cultural and ethical values in the stages of collecting, interpreting, applying and announcing the results of the field. Having sufficient awareness of the universality of social rights, social justice, quality culture and protection of cultural values, environmental protection, occupational health and safety.
