Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course will explain the urbanization policies of different countries and Urbanization policy of Turkey.
Course Content: Definitions and concepts, theories of urban, urbanization causes
According to the size of the city urbanization, Rural-urban phenomenon, Industrial Cities, Global Cities, the definition of the metropolitan area Urbanization policies, urbanization policies, urban functions.
Modern research (social, cultural, spatial, demographic and economic urban research methods)
The process of urban planning, urban plans, features and principles, plan types and scales
Urban planning in Turkey, urban construction plans, approval and implementation
Turkey, housing problems and policy, urban renewal, housing applications, satellite towns, and self-enclosed residential placeme
Gated communities and residential placements, visual presentation and discussion.
Urban migration, and the effects of the phenomenon of slums, slum process in Turkey
Urbanization and environmental issues, forest, river basin and coastal zone protection and conservation plans.
Turkey's development plans, regional development policies and the Regional Development Agencies.

Program Outcomes
1) Having theoretical and practical knowledge at the basic level supported by textbooks, application tools and other resources with up-to-date information in the field based on the competences gained at secondary level.
2) To gain the ability to use the same level of theoretical and applied knowledge at the same level in an advanced education level or the same field in the field. To be able to interpret and evaluate data, to identify and analyze data, to develop evidence-based solution proposals using basic knowledge and skills acquired in the field.
3) To be able to transfer the thoughts at the level of basic knowledge and skills which are related to the field through written and oral communication.
