Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The purpose of this course; prevention of health / social problems that may arise in the elderly home environment, if it has arisen, explaining the contribution of the aged care technician to the methods of dealing with these problems. Nowadays, aging is recommended on the spot, at home. It is possible for elderly care technicians to help the elderly living in their home to maintain their independence from physical, social and spiritual aspects and to deal with physical / mental / social diseases. In this course, the services to be delivered to the elderly are detailed with an “holistic approach” approach. The successful student will be able to plan and carry out the service necessary to provide and maintain physical / mental / social health for the elderly.
Course Content: . Describes the basic principles of elderly care at home
• Explains the definition of old age, characteristics of old age
• Explains the biological and social changes in the elderly
• Know and explain the social services applied to the elderly
• Describes the characteristics of common diseases in old age at basic level.
• Describes and applies the principles of care service that should be given in common

4) Helps the elderly care person to have bathroom or bathing in the bed, Helps to change the clothes , Helps with toilet needs
5) Performs necessary procedures after self-care. Prepares the materials used during the applications according to the hygiene rules. Removes the personal waste that emerges during maintenance according to hygiene rules.
6) Changes the bedding of the person taking elderly care service and provides bedding arrangement, Provides the room arrangement, Takes measures against accidents and injuries in the living area
7) Provides and/or supports oral feeding, Performs necessary procedures after oral feeding
8) Provides mobility of the elderly person, Follows body integrity and bed wounds, Implements the measures necessary to prevent bed wounds
