Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: •Understanding the boundaries of the mass communication activities and the rules to be followed,
•Understanding the foundations of mass communication law,
•Explanation of constitutional foundations, freedom of expression and dissemination of thought,
•Explaining freedom of expression and communication in international law, European human rights convention and court decisions,
•to explain the legal regulations in the field of communication,
Course Content: The aim of the course is to establish the awareness of the rule of law and respect for fundamental rights and freedoms in the proper execution of mass communication activities. Explaining the basic concepts of freedom of expression and opinion, explaining the basics of mass communication law, explaining legal regulations and responsibilities related to print media, television broadcasting and internet.

1) Acting on the basis of mass communication law; to be able to express the freedom of expressing and spreading thoughts. Ability to define the sources of press law, criminal and legal responsibility for press and publication activities, freedom of expression and personality rights.

1) To be able to identify, analyze and evaluate specific problems in communication, media and law. To be able to describe the limits of freedom of expression and to discuss the violation of the right of personality through the press.

1) Understanding the relationship between freedom of communication and freedoms of information acquisition, dissemination, criticism and with social responsibility awareness, ensuring that individuals in society are aware of the legal rights and freedoms of communication.

1) To be able to produce arguments that are justified, critical and open to debate in media law. To be able to evaluate the decision, laws and legislations, to be able to contribute to its development.
Field Specific Competence
1) To be able to examine scientific studies, judicial decisions and legislation written in the field of Media Law. Solving area-specific problems in the light of the principles that dominate this area.
Competence to Work Independently and Take Responsibility
1) To be able to conduct legal research on the Turkish and EU Media Laws independently, to be able to interpret and examine the place and importance of freedom of communication in mass media. To be able to report the problems encountered in the field of mass communication law with the understanding of responsibility and to question the ideas put forward for the solution of these problems.

1) 1. Acquainting oneself with technologic developments which have effect on new media area. 2. Gaining the theoretical infrastructure controling the influence flow within social media, society and digital culture. 3. Implementing digital communication on productive and strategic projects by using the right applications. 4. Wining theoretical and factual infrastructure to use data which can reach the right information in an ethical way.
2) 1.Designing, strategizing and managing related processes as an active actor of the new media at the center of all transformations and changes, especially production, marketing, journalism, social relations. 2.Being able to comprehend the interdisciplinary structure of the new media and the tendency to work with traditional media such as newspapers, radio and TV, and to produce interactive content in this direction. 3.Generating a new generation of news in the context of news gathering and writing transformations; to be a new media correspondent, editor or producer in newspapers, radio or TV institutions carrying publishing activities on the Internet and mobile media. 4.Designing, producing and implementing content for public and private organizations with disciplines as public relations, trade, advertising for effective reach to target audience, productivity and competitive advantage. 5.
