Course Objectives: | Teaching the local anesthetic solutions used in dentistry and their properties, contents, duration of action, dosages and trade names, giving information to the dental students about the situtatins that they apply or not the techniques of the local anesthesia to their dental patients.Teaching the definition of sedation, the aims sedation in children and mental retardeds, the techniques of sedation, the drugs that can be used for sedation and their dosages. Teaching the medical emergencies that can be occurred in patients in the dental office and prevention and management of these situations. |
Course Content: | • To recognize and identify anatomy of trigeminal nerve and the properties of local anesthesia • To underline the critical importance of the basic and advanced theories in maxillofacial surgery; describe electrochemistry of nerve condition; define the properties of local anesthesia; describe pharmacology of local anesthetics and vasoconstrictors • To identify and discuss techniques of maxillary and mandibular anesthesia. |
