Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives:

To have knowledge about the structures, classification, general characteristics of microorganisms, to explain the conditions and disease-generating mechanisms necessary for the growth and reproduction of microorganisms; to teach important infectious, disease factors and ways of prevention; it is aimed to gain knowledge and skills related to basic laboratory practice.

Course Content:

The structure of bacteria, reproductive properties and metabolism of bacteria, bacterial genetics, viruses, general features of fungi, general features of parasites, sterilization and disinfection, antibacterial agents, environmental microbiology, transmission of infectious agents, pathogenesis and normal flora, introduction to immunology, structure of immune system, natural immune mechanisms, acquired immune mechanisms, infectious agents transmitted through digestion and food poisoning.
