Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: - The student's assimilation of the purposeful use of light with the basic photo information acquired during the fall semester, and adding aesthetic value to the photography with the applications it will make in line with the visual expression and design principles,
- It is aimed to recognize the photographers specialized in their fields and develop visual memory of their works with the given research subjects.
Course Content: The course includes basic photography and visual expression principles of photography.

Lesson Plan

Week Subject Related Preparation
1) In the first lesson, the basic photograph information given in the fall semester will be summarized and will be conveyed to the students with a visual presentation and the transfer of new basic photograph information will continue. " Intensity of Light ”: Hard Light - Soft Light .
2) “Direction of Light”: - Direct Light - Indirect Light - Basic Lighting:   Light from Front, Side, Back, Hill, Bottom. .
3) “Portrait Photo”  Lights used for portrait shooting in the studio:   “Main Light” (Model Light), “Fill Light”, “Hair Light”, “Background   Light ”, What is“ Effect Light ”(effect light)? Definitions and observing the effects of these lights on the live model in the applications in the studio. Face Locations: The face of the model placed in front of the camera angles: “All Face”, “¾ Face” and “Profile Face” definitions. .
4) “All Face” / Application-1 Examination of the effects of the light on the model according to the lateral positions and vertical angles of the light and shooting applications. Lateral Locations: a) Central Lighting (0), b) Off-Center Lighting (20- 25), c) Cross Lighting (45), d) Side Lighting (70), e) Side-Back Lighting (115), f) Edge Lighting (135), g) Backlighting (180) Vertical Positions: a) Lighting from below (-35 / -45), b) Straight Slope (0), c) Low-Medium Slope (20 / 30), d) Medium Slope (40 / 45), e) High-Medium Slope (60), f) High Slope (75), g) Peak Lighting: 90) .
5) Shooting applications for the entire Face ”position will continue. .
6) “3/4 Face” and “Profile Face” / Application-2     - Lateral positions,     - Vertical angles       effects will be examined by shooting. .
7) Lighting for transparent / translucent objects / Application-3 Applications in the studio, a) Front-Center lighting, b) Sub Lighting c) Backlighting d) Lower + Backlighting, e) Top Lighting to increase the visual effects of objects and to gain aesthetic perspective. .
8) Midterm .
9) Composition in photography: The Golden Ratio. “Point of Interest and Specificity in Photography”.  Transferring the subject with visual presentation and following related examples. .
10) Visual Expression Elements of Photography: Texture, Contrast. Transferring the subject with visual presentation and following related examples. .
11) Visual Expression Elements of Photography: Depth / Perspective, Proportions. Transferring the subject with visual presentation and following related examples. .
12) Visual Expression Elements of Photography: Balance, Rhythm, Harmony / Harmony. Transferring the subject with visual presentation and following related examples .
13) Visual Expression Elements of Photography: Speed ​​and Motion Impression, Integrity Transferring the subject with visual presentation and following related examples .
