The qanun, one of the main instruments of Turkish Music, is an instrument of approximately 3.5 octaves belonging to the family of stringed and plectrum instruments. The etymology of this name; Although it is accepted that it derives from the Greek word kanon, which means rule, rule, it has settled into our language as law from Arabic, according to research. In Turkey, Iran and Arab countries, it is defined as law, and in other countries it is defined as kanonaki, a word derived from kanon. In many sources, it is stated that the qanun instrument was invented by Ebu Nasr Muhammed Bin Turhan Bin Uzluğu Farabi (870-950), known as the great philosopher and musical scholar of the time, who was originally a Turk. |
