Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to further develop students' viola playing skills, teach intermediate level techniques and enable them to work with more complex repertoire.
Course Content: Review and warm-up exercises on basic viola techniques.
Studies on arpeggios and bow technique.
Creating a harmonious performance between the viola and other stringed instruments.

Lesson Plan

Week Subject Related Preparation
1) Review and warm-up exercises on basic viola techniques.
2) Position changes on the G string and a simple study.
3) laying four-string chords and creating a simple melody with the chords.
4) Studies on arpeggios and bow technique.
5) Analysis and performance of an intermediate level solo piece.
6) Studies on pizzicato technique and playing a piece with pizzicato.
7) An Overview

9) tudies on advanced bow technique and various bow uses.
10) Analysis and performance of another solo piece at intermediate level
11) Studies on orchestration and playing orchestral works with viola.
