Course Objectives: |
-The use of geosynthetics in engineering applications is increasing rapidly all over the world. The vast majority of these applications are related to Geotechnical Engineering. Therefore, there is a need to increase their knowledge by introducing new materials and technologies to students. The aim of this course is to provide necessary concepts about geosynthetics through geotextiles, geogrids, geocells, geomembranes, geosynthetic clay covers, geofoams and geocomposites. Therefore, the course will first start with the basic definitions of geosynthetics. Afterwards, useful uses of geosynthetics in Geotechnical Engineering will be discussed in terms of design. |
