Course Objectives: | The purpose of this course is to introduce the history of occupational health and safety in mines. The basic concepts related to the subject. Occupational health and safety from the law point of view. The effects of workplace on miners (chemical, physical, biological and psychological and sociological factors). The health and safety problems and their solution techniques in mining. Occupational diseases: definition, causes, protection and consequences. Occupational accidents: definition, causes, prevention and consequences. Ergonomics applications in mining. Personal protective equipment. Rescue in mines. Technical supervision in mines. Expert witness on claims about occupational diseases and accidents. |
Course Content: | Definition of mines, machines used in mines, piers, work safety problems to be encountered in mines and personal methods to be used in them, measures to be taken for the fires encountered in mines, definition of underground structures, importance of underground structures, identification of production areas such as quarries and marble quarries, The importance of ventilation. |
