Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course will provide students a broad survey of the history of motion pictures in Turkey and all around the world. Classics and important films from the birth to the present time are discussed with regard to their cultural influence. Rhe course follows the evolutıon of the art, industry and technology of movie making.
At the end of this course, it is aimed that the students know the structure of cinema as an art form, its mechanisms as a tool of narrative and communication and its operation as an industry.
Course Content: The development of world cinema from the beginning, the invention of cinematography, the first cinematograph representation of the Lumiere Brothers, Georges Mélies and the introduction of the fiction language into cinema, Griffith cinemas and the development of cinema language, the establishment of the Hollywood system, Weimar Period, German Expressionist Cinema, Soviet Cinema, French Impressionism and Poetic Realism, Dadaism and Surrealism.

1) To be able to explain how socio-political, technological, economic and cultural conditions affect the aesthetics of cinema in the given historical range.

1) To be able to watch the samples from Turkish and world cinema more critically within the context of the culture industry, to analyze the films in terms of technical and content.

1) To be able to analyze contemporary cinema from the point of view of cinema history by discussing the period and movements in the history of cinema with the fundamental debates on the films and directors.

1) To be able to use information about the history of cinema while analyzing today's films.

1) 1. Acquainting oneself with technologic developments which have effect on new media area. 2. Gaining the theoretical infrastructure controling the influence flow within social media, society and digital culture. 3. Implementing digital communication on productive and strategic projects by using the right applications. 4. Wining theoretical and factual infrastructure to use data which can reach the right information in an ethical way.
2) 1.Designing, strategizing and managing related processes as an active actor of the new media at the center of all transformations and changes, especially production, marketing, journalism, social relations. 2.Being able to comprehend the interdisciplinary structure of the new media and the tendency to work with traditional media such as newspapers, radio and TV, and to produce interactive content in this direction. 3.Generating a new generation of news in the context of news gathering and writing transformations; to be a new media correspondent, editor or producer in newspapers, radio or TV institutions carrying publishing activities on the Internet and mobile media. 4.Designing, producing and implementing content for public and private organizations with disciplines as public relations, trade, advertising for effective reach to target audience, productivity and competitive advantage. 5.
