Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To be able to comprehend what the characteristics of learning difficulties are, how to distinguish them and how to intervene in learning difficulties.
Course Content: Characteristics of children with learning difficulties, diagnostic methods, adaptation problems and educational opportunities, preparing and implementing an individualized education program for children with learning difficulties.

1) Tells/writes the definition of learning disability. Explain the causes of learning difficulties. Classifies learning difficulties and shows them in tabular form.
2) Knows the reflections of learning disability in the life-long process
3) Relates various learning theories to teaching principles and strategies.
4) Knows the importance of early intervention for learning disabilities.

Cognitive - Practical
1) It describes language, perception and affective problems in learning disabilities and provides support to overcome the problem.

1) It provides academic and social support to teachers working with individuals with learning disabilities.

1) Describes the differences in neurobiological, physical, social, emotional and cognitive characteristics of individuals with and without learning disabilities.
2) Observes the neurophysiological factors associated with learning disabilities and correlates them with their effects on student performance.
3) Knows the limits of responsibility in studies related to learning disability and makes the necessary guidance.
Competence to Work Independently and Take Responsibility
1) It guides parents of children with learning disabilities and helps them participate in education.
2) Explains and improves the service provided in general classroom, inclusive and special education classes.
3) While working with individuals with learning difficulties, it works in cooperation with the professionals and family in the life of the individual and in line with ethical principles.

2) Knows all the concepts related to development and education for children in the 0-18 age group, follows the studies on this subject and plans original studies.
3) The knowledge gained in the areas of cognitive, language, motor, self-care, social-emotional development for children in the 0-18 age group; It is used to make developmental and educational diagnosis for children, families and society in units related to the profession.
4) It identifies the problems of 0-18 age group children and their families in the country in the fields of health, development, education and social services and generates appropriate solutions and original ideas by using their basic knowledge about these problems.
5) They produce original solutions using their advanced knowledge on Child Development and Education, use these solutions in practice, interpret the results by interpreting the information, and critically analyze a set of information.
6) The knowledge gained in the professional field; It can be used for health, education and social service institutions, especially for children and families, works effectively in developmental and educational programs and related projects, and participates in research.
7) Acts in accordance with scientific ethics and observes the psychological conditions of the child and family regarding experimental research on children.
8) Acts in accordance with democracy, human rights, social, scientific and professional ethical values, relevant laws, regulations and legislation as an example to the society with its appearance, attitudes and behaviors.
9) The individual has sufficient awareness of environmental protection and occupational safety of 0-18 age group including their families and behaves appropriately and participates in quality management and processes.
