Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To make experiments by producing projects that can solve graphic design problems in middle and advanced level by using expression methods such as typography, illustration, photography, and to gain a visual language creation by using symbolism and semiology.
Course Content: It is a project-based course. it's the second part of GIT 337 The Visual Communication Atelier I. Projects are given in order to expose students' imagination and talents, to focus on creativity and new approaches. The course aims to help students to transform the ideas into an effective visual language by using images in a creative unity, using the technology and communication tools effectively to comprehend complex communication problems, to systematically address these problems and to produce creative visual solutions by combining their practical skills with theoretical knowledge.

Lesson Plan

Week Subject Related Preparation
1) Introduction to the course; content, expectations, general information.
2) What is the concept of Social Responsibility Project? A look at advertising design and graphic design products produced by institutions and brands through the concept of social responsibility. Presentation of Term Project. Research of social responsibility campaigns carried out by brands and institutions
3) The student to do research for the subject of social responsibility project in order to determine the subject of the project. Examining the samples of Poster Works within the scope of Social Responsibility Projects. Evaluation through examples. 3 different topic selection.
4) 15 different idea sketches produced in total for 3 different Social Responsibility Projects. Developing the production method for 6 determined sketches.
5) Draft production for 6 idea sketches produced in 3 different subjects. 6 development of the sketches and start production by the specified production. (Production of photographs by using at least two of photo, photo manipulation (digital), illustration, collage, typography methods)
6) Evaluation of draft studies in the classroom. Giving revisions. Continue work on revisions.
7) 6 to be selected in the course 2 banner work 50x70cm. size of the original work. Selected 2 original work 50x70cm. and output to digital CD format.
8) Midterm Project sketch file, 50x70cm poster and CD
9) Midterm consideration. Starting production with 4 draft works chosen.
10) Visual production and essay works on draft studies.
11) Typography works through draft studies.
12) Giving revisions over draft studies. Converting the determined 2 pieces to 50x70cm original banner.
13) Revision of 2 original 50x70cm banners before final presentation. 2 pieces 50x70cm the original poster, sketches Preparation of digital copy in CD format.
14) Final Project. (2 x 50x70cm original banner outputs, sketches, digital format of banners in CD format)
