Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to provide students with information on prosody, which describes the control over speech elements such as grammatical structures, stress, intonation, speed and volume, and to develop effective oral communication skills. |
Course Content: | What is Prosody? Definition of the concept of prosody. Grammatical and communicative importance of prosody. Emphasis and Intonation: Correct stress and intonation on words and sentences. Preventing emphasis errors that could change the meaning. Speed and Volume Control: Effective use of speech rate. Control over volume. Rhythm and Melody of Language: The natural rhythm and melody of the language. The use of prosody in poetic expressions. Voice Expression Capabilities: Effective use of emotional expressions. Persuasive speaking techniques. |
