Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to place the health of the economy, science, and to promote the application of theoretical knowledge and concepts. One of the basic concepts of market economy, prices, supply and demand, cost, financing etc. subjects’ demonstrate their application in health issues; Students are encouraged to benefit from the economic evaluation methods and able to apply themselves.

At the end of this course the students will be able to:

• Define the basic concepts of economics, it can determine the location of the health of these concepts.
• Recognize concept of price, cost, efficiency and flexibility and can explain their application in health with examples.
• Assess the socio-economic functions of health.
• Discuss the conformity and non conformity with free market and healthcare market, also associate the size of the market failure in health.
• Explain demographic and epidemiological changes, analyze and predict new trends of health.
