Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: • To provide general information about the instrument.
• To teach posture and hand position of the instrument.
• To provide information about repertory and performance of the instrument.
To teach basic skills towards performance of the instrument.
Course Content: General information about clarinet. Diaphragm technique, posture and mouthpiece position. Exercises on left hand in the first register (Chalumeau Register) between E2-C1. Exercises on left hand in the first register (Throat Tones) between C1-A2. Exercises on right hand in the first register between B1-E1. Pieces for Chalumeau Register and Throat Tone studies. One sharp or flat scales, arpeggios and their inversions. Connecting the first register E1-C1 tones to Clarion register B2-G3 tones by octave pitch (register key) and exercises on them. Exercises on and pieces for B2-C3.
