Course Objectives:

To develop the ability to understand the characteristics of 20th century piano music, compare it with works written in previous periods, and apply them technically.

Course Content:

1 Technical features in the interpretation of the works of J.S.Bach
2 Baroque work interpretation studies
3 A study on the influence of symphonic thought in classical sonata interpretation
4 Technical review of the selected sonata
5 Examination of the form of the selected sonata
6 Innovations brought by Romantic period etudes to music and piano technique
7 Technical review on selected studies
8 Study on the general characteristics of Impressionist piano music
9 Studies on the use of pedals in the studied impressionist work
10 Timbre studies in the studied impressionist work and technical methods in their application
Technical contents of 11 Debussy preludes and etudes
12 Examination of 20th century piano techniques
13 Working methods for the technical difficulties of a 20th-century piano piece
14 Review of the instrumental techniques to be applied in selected works. Performance studies for the final exam. (Technical achievements regarding one etude, one baroque work and other works studied)
