Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: It is aimed to raise awareness of the new media department students about the professional ethical values that a good communicator should have, the basic elements to be sensitive, responsibilities towards the individual, society and the state; to reveal the concepts of ethics with historical, theoretical and institutional backgrounds and to discuss ethical problems encountered in the new media through current examples.
Course Content: Basic concepts of morality, deontology, Property in media and Media Control, Private life, privacy and personality rights, ethics in journalism, ethics in public relations, ethics in advertising, new ethical problems in new communication platforms, Digital surveillance phenomenon, Social media and personal data security, Social content and copyright / patent rights in the media.

1) Learning the implementation of ethical decision making processes and gaining ethical awareness, familiarity with different approaches on morality, to define ethical principles and ethical issues addressed in different communication disciplines, especially in new media and digital networks.

1) To be able to critically analyze moral conflicts in digital media and communication environments, to develop an academic perspective on current ethical issues in social networks, and to produce scientific research from this perspective.

1) To give importance to ethical values with the awareness of social responsibility and to be able to conduct studies that create awareness in moral values for the environment in which they live.
