Course Objectives: | The aim of this course is to introduce students with the rough construction methods including the study of constructional elements, their design principles and their detailed relationships and to develop knowledge on the fundamentals of basic building construction and materials such as stone, brick, concrete, steel, timber, glass, metals and plastics, their characteristics and use in construction systems and subsystems. Providing knowledge about making modifications of the given rough constructions and building elements, integration requirements, their characteristics and use in construction systems and subsystems within the context of “problem solving”. |
Course Content: | A classification of building types according to the contemporary basic construction concepts, an overview of the constructional design requirements and of the basic vocabulary of the substance of building materials and their behaviors provided for the exterior and interior space. |
