Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To introduce building and construction systems with the approach of problem identification and solution generation, to explain the loads affecting the structure, the types of ground that will carry these loads, and what kind of solutions can be produced to safely transmit the loads to the ground in a structure. To recognize interior/exterior wall elements and flooring types as construction system elements. To learn approaches to staircase and roof solutions with the structural element approach.
Course Content: Ground and ground types, land types and precautions to be taken in high-slope lands, load concept, loading concept and load types, load distribution in the structure and safe transmission of loads to the ground, foundation types, masonry construction methods and materials, carcass construction methods and materials, ground water and precautions to be taken, building envelope and internal partition elements, gaps in vertical building elements and simple roof solutions, staircase calculation.
