Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This is a course that covers research methods and practices for graduate students who do research in the field of music and try to present their research as a thesis. The course covers basic concepts, approaches and techniques. Topics such as topic selection, researching the material, preparation of a study plan, relations with the thesis advisor, citation and footnote techniques, sources and data processing are discussed. Each student is given separate homework according to their area of ​​interest and skill level. All techniques are applied through a sample assignment, and at the end of the semester, the assignment is prepared as a simulation of the thesis. Techniques such as presenting the finished thesis in front of the jury and using a writing program are also handled according to the student's needs.

2) 1-Scientific research stages 2-Field, subject and thesis title concepts 3-Different terminologies used by universities 4-Applications and examples for field, subject and title selection Lecture notes will be provided to students on a weekly basis.
3) 1-The logic of preparing the "Contents" section of the thesis 2-Rules set by the university for the "Contents" section 3- «Contents» study applications in different musical genres and fields Lecture notes will be provided to students on a weekly basis.
4) Creating starting keywords/concepts according to each student's own topic Methods for conducting "literature scanning" according to determined keywords Identification of sources and primary and secondary sources.
