Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives:

Create awareness of occupational health and safety regulations, specify risk factors that can affect health at the workplace, put forward the necessary measures, give the attitude and the knowledge of designing the organization of occupational health and safety.

Course Content:

Historical development of occupational safety. Occupational safety concept and scope. National and international organizations and their duties related to occupational safety. Occupational safety culture. Risk and danger definitions, types. General and legal definition of work accidents. Recording, evaluating and reporting occupational accidents. Chemical and Physical factors. Personal protectors and the importance of using these protectors. General and legal definition of occupational disease, legal responsibilities. Occupational disease, causes of occupational disease and technical measures that can be taken.Define occupational health and safety concepts,Define occupational health and safety organization,Define occupational health and safety legislation and practice guidelines, Define occupational health and safety concepts risk assessment, Describe the concept situation in Turkey.

1) Define the physical risk factors that negatively affect the health of employees in the workplace. List the measurement methods for physical and environmental factors. Indicates the permissible values in national and international standards. Compares the business lines with high exposure to physical risk factors in our country and in the world. Explain the control of physical risk factors in the workplace and the duties of the occupational safety specialist.
2) Defines the chemical risk factors that negatively affect the health of employees in the workplace. List the measurement methods of chemical risk factors for environment and person. Define the permissible values in national and international standards. Compares the business lines with high exposure to chemical risk factors in our country and in the world. Explain the control of chemical risk factors in the workplace and the duties of the occupational safety specialist.

1) Describes bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites that may be encountered as risk factors in the working environment. Explain the characteristics of microorganisms that may be encountered as risk factors in the working environment. List the methods of protection from biological risk factors.

1) Define ergonomics and its basic concepts. Determine the effects of ergonomic risks. Explain the studies to be done on prevention of the effects of ergonomic risks. Define dangerous situation and behavior. Expresses the basic features of protection practices such as prevention at source, environment protection and personal protection.

1) It defines the institutions and organizations which have responsibility in the field of occupational health and safety in our country and the international institutions and organizations such as ILO, WHO and OSHA which are active in the field of occupational health and safety. Define the legal regulations on occupational medicine and occupational safety expertise. Analyze the organization of occupational health and safety services. Explain the importance of teamwork in occupational health and safety services. Define the supervision of the working environment. List the records of the supervision of the working environment.
