Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To provide an overview of certain periods in the history of chamber music, to understand the stylistic features specific to the periods by analyzing selected works; to gain skills in understanding chamber music forms and creating their own works; learning the role and interaction of different instruments and developing instrumentation skills; It includes making music within the group and developing performance skills. It also aims to encourage students to reach a broad musical understanding by offering them a perspective that includes elements of Turkish music.

Lesson Plan

Week Subject Related Preparation
1) History of Chamber Music and the 20th Century Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
2) Lives and works of composers such as Debussy, Ravel, Bartok Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
3) Examining the works of 20th century composers Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
4) Providing students with works to be performed with accompaniment Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
5) Evaluating the form, history, vertical and horizontal harmony of selected works Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
6) Improvisation trials to improve students' performance before the midterm exam Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
7) Midterm Exam
8) Analysis of a string quartet selected from the Classical Period Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
9) Giving the first four measures of a piece chosen from Haydn's works and recomposing it in accordance with the rules of harmony. Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
10) Evaluation and technical analysis of music written by students Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
11) Experimental music, spectral music, natal music, etc. explanation of definitions Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
