Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Students will be taught voice training techniques used in the Turkish Classical Music repertoire. To provide students with the ability to perform the TSM vocal repertoire at all levels by teaching them.
Course Content: Improving solfeggio knowledge and note reading ability.
Ability to understand and use Turkish Classical Music modes.
Expressing the words correctly in the maqams and procedures used in the TSM repertoire.
Practicing vocal techniques.

Lesson Plan

Week Subject Related Preparation
1) Basic music terms, note reading, and vocal warm-up exercises Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
2) Basic solfeggio exercises and breathing control exercises. Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
3) Basic makam information and analysis of the first TSM work. Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
4) Development of vocal techniques and simple singing practice. Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
5) Analysis of the second TSM work and vocal performance exercises. Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
6) Study of useful vocal intervals and analysis of the third TSM work. Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
7) Advanced solfeggio exercises and development of vocal technique. Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
8) Analysis of the fourth TSM work and vocal performance practice. Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
9) Maqam changes and analysis of the fifth TSM work. Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
10) Development of voice color and vocal range studies Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
11) Analysis of the sixth TSM work and vocal performance practice. Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
12) Development of technical skills and analysis of the seventh TSM artifact. Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
13) Evaluation of student performances and vocal techniques Lecture notes will be given to students weekly.
14) End-of-term evaluations, student performances and general evaluation.
