Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course aims to make an overview of the contemporary political and social issues in the wider Middle East, aka Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Domestic and foreign policies of the regional countries will be analyzed from an historical perspective.
Course Content: Mapping the Middle East; From Imperialism to Modernization; Civil Society: Fact or Fiction; Security; Eastern Arab States; Western Arab States; Israel, Turkey and Iran; Gulf States.
