Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to follow the students current literature about the mother and child feeding, starting with pregnancy, determining adequate and balanced nutritional requirements for the protection and improvement of community health during lactation, infancy and all childhood, to follow and discuss related scientific research.
Course Content: The status of mothers and children in the world and Turkey, indicators to determine the status of women's health, physiology of pregnancy and fetus, fetal programming, nutritional requirements during pregnancy, nutritional supplements in pregnancy, pregnancy complications and nutrition, lactation physiology, nutritional requirements during lactation, nutritional supplements in lactation, breast milk, baby-friendly hospital initiative, the criteria used in the evaluation of children's health, assessment of growth and development, nutrition during infancy , nutrition premature and low birth weight infants, nutrition during childhood and adolescent, nutrition related problems in children and suggestions.
