Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: Referring to the economic, political, and cultural changes in Europe during a period between the late 18th to the early 21st century, this course will focus on the 19th century European Architecture Environment (electicism, historicism), the birth of engineering and the industrial city, New building types and modes of production, Industrialism and Arts and Crafts, the Art Nouveau Movement, the Industrial Revolution in America and the Chicago school, De Stilj, Deutsche Werkbund and Bauhaus, International Style and Post Modernism. The course will also refer to the late 19th century architectural developments in Turkey during the late Ottoman period.
