Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To provide the students with the basic theories and principles of urban open space design
Course Content: Basic concepts of urban space, positive and negative space. Development process of urban space. Imaginary elements of the city, districts , edges, paths, landmarks, borders. Physical, social and visual components of urban space. Main principles in urban space design. Urban space typologies. Analysis of urban open space. Discussions about public space and the city.
