Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course was created to examine the theories, research and practices related to language development in children. Language, literacy and concept development are examined and children are concentrated on the elements that affect these areas. The relationship between thought and language and the whole methods of language and art education and assessment based on this relationship are discussed.
Course Content: Introduction to literacy concept development, literacy concept development theories, language acquisition and development theories, communicative development starting from birth, effects of literary language development, elements of cultural, linguistic and individual self-awareness, development of literacy concept, elements of literacy concept development, phonological sensitivity and letter recognition, Meaning development and upperbilis, Relationship between drawing and writing, Feeding the concepts of literacy with different techniques (puppet, drama, storytelling, finger play, rhyme, riddle, song, picture, computer, etc.), Reading together and child books, e-children books, the development of literacy concepts in the game environment, supporting the development of family and adult literacy concept in the child
