Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to enable students to develop research, writing and writing skills in visual culture. In this direction, the course is designed to introduce students to the critical approaches they can apply to a wide range of images, objects and areas.
Course Content: Explains what visual culture studies are and what kind of research field they require.

11) Advertising, consumer culture and pleasure: Consumption society, commodity fetishism and so on. Images used in advertising in the light of the concepts will be analyzed. Related resource
12) Postmodernism and visual culture: Parody and pastiche concepts will be discussed. Related resource
13) Scientific view: The use of visual images as scientific evidence will be discussed and the myth of reality will be discussed. Related resource
14) The global flow of visual culture: The effects of globalization in visual culture will be discussed in the light of cultural imperialism, global branding, local media and diaspora media. Related resource
