Qualification Requirements and Rules

Students who have completed their education and training within the framework of the undergraduate program of the Department of Sociology graduate with a number of program qualifications. According to this, a graduate of the Department of Sociology will be able to gain knowledge about the different theories about history of sociology and sociology and also using these theoretical approaches he/she will be able to analyze social structures, relationships and processes in different periods of history. In addition, the graduates of the department will have the ability to develop an interdisciplinary approach by explaining the relations between sociology and different social science disciplines. Within the framework of the Sociology undergraduate program, the ability to plan, implement and analyze social research in different subjects is gained. Students learn how to carry out scientific research in accordance with scientific and ethical principles in the light of different methodological perspectives. Students also increase their knowledge and skills about teamwork, which is also very significant after graduation.

The students who successfully complete the program are awarded with the degree of “İstanbul Okan University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Bachelor Degree” and “Sociologist”.
