Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: It is aimed to define the components of the change in world cinema after 1980 within the framework of regions and countries and to reveal the relationship between them with a critical approach.
Course Content: Explain the outlines of trends in production, distribution and display in today's world cinema.

3) New American Cinema: Blockbuster movies and independent cinema. Film Screening: Strange in Paradise (Stranger Than Paradise, Jim Jarmusch, USA, 1984). .
4) European Cinema (I): An overview of European cinema and country cinemas: Britain, Italy, Germany and France ('Cinema of view' or 'New French New Wave). Film Screening: Diva (Jean-Jacques Beineix, France, 1981). .
5) European Cinema (II): Cinemas of Eastern European countries, "Heritage cinema" and "Dogma 95" trend. Film Screening: Feast (Festen, Thomas Vinterberg, Denmark 1998). .
6) Japanese cinema: horror films, animators and 'auteur' filmmakers. Film Screening: Ran (Akira Kurosawa, Japan, 1985). .
