Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This course deals with the development process of modern architecture with an interior focus. It examines the relations of architects, designers and non-architectural actors with the creation of space, with their discursive and practical dimensions.
Course Content: Within the scope of the course, the issues related to the Turkish architecture of the Republican period will be researched by making use of the relevant international literature and local archive resources.

Lesson Plan

4) Introduction to the history of modern architecture in Turkey -
5) Discussion over the reading passage Reading the text shared by the lecturer.
6) Discussion over the reading passage Reading the text shared by the lecturer.
7) Discussion over the reading passage Reading the text shared by the lecturer.
8) Selection of project topics, presentation of research topic proposals. Students are expected to share research topic alternatives in a presentation format.
9) Selection of project topics, determination of research topic and method. Making student presentations. Students are expected to present a more detailed final version of the research topic, its main methods and approaches.
10) Literature review , Sharing the content and basic sources of the research. Discussion over the bibliography presentation. Students are expected to present a bibliography of the research project.
11) Interior spatiality in Turkish Early Republican architecture -1 The student is expected to present preliminary research outputs.
12) Interior spatiality in Turkish early Republican architecture -2 The student is expected to present preliminary research outputs.
13) History of modern furniture design -
14) Final project presentation Students share their research projects in a visual presentation format.
15) Submission of the project in article format, closing of the course, Students make a presentation in article format. The output of the final project in article format is expected.
