Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: This lecture focuses on the general characteristics of children’s literature; additionally, it also provides appropriate and inappropriate examples among the current sources of the children’s literature. Moreover, this lecture also separates book contents in accordance to the age of children, and assesses these sources from the aspect of their usefulness and positive effects on children.
Course Content: • Describe the characteristics of children's literature.
• Evaluates works of qualified and unqualified children's literature.
• Provides information on selecting books appropriate for children's age range.
• refers to the effects of children's literature works on the development of childhood.
• Describes the contribution of linguistic tools such as fairy tales, epic poems, stories to children's development.

2) • Social and cultural perception of the concept of "child". • Children and childhood in different cultures. • From past to present, "childhood".
3) • The child's place, the way of life in modern society. • The child's needs, interests of the child, • Definition, qualities and purpose of children's literature
4) • What is the appropriate concept for the child? • What needs to be considered in terms of the child's eligibility? • What does the child benefit from in the educational sense?
5) • Regulation of children's books according to age characteristics, • Illustrated, tactile, visual books,
6) • • How should the book be based on child age groups? • What should be considered when preparing books? • What are the fonts and sizes, pictures? • At younger ages, visually abundant books, water-resistant, tactile books should be preferred.
7) • Reading habits during childhood, • In reading habits, • The duty of the teacher and the school, • Basic problems in reading culture acquisition process and recommendation of solution.
