Course Objective and Content

Course Objectives: To enable students to understand that development is a life-long phenomenon, to discuss developmental theories, and to learn and discuss the characteristics of human development from prenatal to death, with its developmental dimensions.
Course Content: Lifelong development phenomenon, basic concepts and theories related to development, research methods in developmental psychology, genetic basis of development, prenatal development, birth process, newborn, infancy, early childhood, middle childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, middle adulthood and advanced adulthood development, death, dying and mourning.

Theoretical - Conceptual
1) Discuss and explain approach of lifelong development, nature of developmental researches, developmental stages, and basic developmental theories. Discuss lifelong development with evolutionist approach, and explain effect of genes and environment of the development.
2) Explain before and during birth processes. Explain physical growth and development of infant; and motor development, sensational and perceptual development of infant.
3) Explain and discuss cognitive, language development in infants and Piaget's infat development theory. Describe physical and cognitive changes and language development in early childhood.
4) Describe emotional and personality development, effects of peer relations and family and TV on the development in early childhood Describe physical and cognitive changes and language development in middle and late childhood
5) Describe emotional and personality development, effects of peer relations and family and TV on the development in middle and late childhood Discuss and nature of adolescence and explain physical and cognitive changes in adolescence.
